Allergies to eggs can range from mild to severe with common symptoms including hives on the skin, eczema or redness around the mouth, belly cramps, nausea or vomiting and a runny nose, itchy, watery eyes and sneezing. But in severe cases people with an egg allergy can have an allergic reaction called anaphylaxis that can cause swelling of the mouth, throat and airways that can result in breathing difficulty.

To avoid any of these reactions, from mild to severe, people who are allergic to eggs must avoid consuming them at all. This may sound like an easy feat but the fact is that many products contain egg or egg products, making it much more difficult to avoid eating eggs.

Here at Knapp’s Country Market we’ve seen a lot of customers come in to the store with egg allergies, looking for products to meet their dietary needs. Our dedication to customer health has lead us to carry a selection of egg-free products for you!

Our specialty aisles are full of these items and we’re happy to help you find them. When looking for products on your own that are egg-free it’s important to check the ingredient listing. Some packages will be marked as egg-free but you must know what ingredients indicate the presence of eggs or egg products. For example, ovoglobulin comes from egg protein. It may also help to look for vegan items, which will be egg-free.
